For People & Culture, EAs and team leads

Corporate team building with something to show for it

An hour of real problem-solving under a real clock, a debrief your team can act on, and the paperwork procurement asks for.

In short: Team Escapes runs corporate team building in Escape This escape rooms in Perth, Sydney and Melbourne: an hour that exercises communication, delegation and decisions under pressure, followed by a debrief, with GST tax invoices, $20M public liability cover and risk assessments.

The business case

Budget it as development, not entertainment

People & Culture teams need a reason that survives a budget review. An escape room gives one: for an hour, a team has to share what it knows quickly, split the work, back the person who spotted something and make calls with the clock running. Those are the same habits a manager wants to see on a Tuesday afternoon.

Each room ends with hard numbers (escaped or not, time left, clues used), and the debrief afterwards turns what people saw into two or three things the team will do differently. Our printable business case sets this out for whoever signs off the spend.

  • Problem-solving and communication under time pressure
  • Delegation across a team that has to split up
  • Leadership that shows up rather than gets assigned
  • A measurable result for every team

Procurement

The paperwork is the easy part

Escape This carries $20M public liability cover, issues GST tax invoices and prepares risk assessments for corporate events. Insurance and risk documents are available on request for your internal compliance review.

Groups are never mixed with strangers, every booking is private to your organisation, and the bookings team places anyone with access needs, age limits or no appetite for horror in rooms that suit them.

FAQ

Corporate team-building questions

Can we get a GST tax invoice for a team-building booking?

Yes. Escape This issues GST tax invoices for corporate bookings, so the event can be charged to a team-building or learning and development cost centre. Ask the bookings team when you enquire if your organisation needs particular details on the invoice.

Can Escape This provide a risk assessment for our event?

Yes. Risk assessments are available for corporate events. Request one with your booking, together with the public liability certificate if your compliance team needs it, and mention any access needs so they can be covered too.

What can a People & Culture team report back after an escape room?

What happened, and what the team said about it. With Team Escapes, every team finishes with an escape result, a time and a count of clues used, and the debrief adds observations about who shared information, how the work was split and how decisions were made. The free Workplace Bonding Challenge adds a short questionnaire on each person’s problem-solving and communication style.

Can someone observe our teams and run a debrief?

Yes. Most organisations bring their own facilitator, coach or team lead to observe the game and run the debrief afterwards. If you would like Escape This to arrange a facilitator instead, ask when you enquire.

Can Escape This bring a game to our office or conference?

Yes, with The President’s Briefcase. It is a 30-minute tabletop game played around a briefcase rather than in a room, with teams of two to four racing head-to-head on identical cases, so it can be set up in your office, a conference venue or a hotel. Ask the events team about dates and numbers.
